Leap's latest Community Conversation, "Cultural Considerations: A Reflection on our Early Intervention and Preschool Services" took place on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Foothills Gateway in south Fort Collins.
A cross-sector team of early childhood professionals facilitated an in-depth presentation that included information and resources about each of their agencies' unique services, as well as time for individual reflection, group discussion and Q&A. You can check out their slides HERE.
Throughout the presentation, the team also emphasized the importance of culturally responsive assessments and gave examples of how their agencies are working to become more aware, sensitive and responsive to the needs and experiences of diverse families.
"This presentation was a great opportunity to look at ourselves and our agencies and see where we can improve," said presenter Amy Hafer, Child Find Specialist at Poudre School District. "You don't have to be an expert, you just have to be willing to have the conversation."
